New In

Here's a little round-up of some new items I have been trying, amongst a giant repurchase of Fresh Sake Bath, which I reviewed in depth last week:

FIG+YARROW Bath+Body Oil "Woods": this product can be used both in the bath or just as a straight-up body oil. I did not like it in the bath as it just floated in globs around the water and the scent is not strong. However, as a body oil it's great. It's geared towards body skin issues such as acne and various other sources of redness/irritation. It's a bit like squirting out salad dressing, but on fresh-out-of-the-shower skin it's soothing and softening.

Mio Skincare Liquid Yoga: not sure this is worth the enormous amount of hype it gets on the internet. It's a liquid that you add in the bath and the aroma is supposed to calm the senses while the ingredients relax your muscles and hydrate your skin in the bath. I did not find this particularly hydrating nor could I feel any physical benefits BUT the smell is pretty darn amazing. I'm on the fence on this one.

Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Nightcap Overnight Perfector: Living Proof sent this product to me and it was a very welcome surprise. This is the perfect product if you like to wash your hair before bed like I do. You add in 2-3 pumps of this product (evenly distributed in your hair, using your fingers), then go to sleep... letting your hair air dry in the meantime. I put it in a loose braid. In the morning they suggest you either rinse it out or style as usual. Rinsing it out kinda defeats the purpose of this for me, so I left it in and marvelled at the results: beachy, effortless, textured hair. This product basically takes you straight to second day hair, bypassing the fluffy "too soft to handle" status of freshly washed hair. The scent is the same to that of the original Perfect Hair Day product, and this product is fine hair friendly! My hair did not feel weighed down or flat at all. It actually looked thicker and more voluminous. However, I do want to note that this product does not add shine. It makes your hair more textured, so you lose shine.

Fresh Sake Bath needs no introduction. This remains in my "holy grail of bath products" section. Full review here. Last but not least, Smashbox Primer Water. This was one of those "the Internet made me do it" purchases.  I've used it a couple of times and it's nice but it's not any different from something like MAC Fix+. In terms of acting like a "primer" for makeup as well as helping "lock" it in, it's all marketing fluff in my opinion.  It has no alcohol/silicones in it, which is great, however those ingredients are exactly why makeup setting sprays like the Urban Decay ones work so well. I do like this for making powder foundations look less harsh, however I am not sure I would stay loyal to this over other similar products on the market.
