Nail Art Noob #ManicureMonday

A little over a week ago I was getting my nails done in the chic-est salon possible aaaand here we are today, with me attempting some "nail art". I must confess that I was never a big nail art fan. Lots of the nail art I was exposed to was tacky or too loud. Then more subtle and chic nail art options came to my attention so I started experimenting.
(Tip: follow the Nails Inc, Formula X and Paint Box Instagram accounts for daily doses of nailspiration)

So for this week's #ManicureMonday I did this pastel *with a punch* manicure. It's not perfect by any means, but practice is important and it was super easy.

I started with a thin layer of silver polish by OPI (from their upcoming Color Paints collection), waited for it to dry, then started painting my nails with a pastel pink on top (Ciate Strawberry Milkshake), but not going all the way down so that the silver peeks through. Easy peasy. Pair this with some silver knuckle rings and you've got yourself an edgy mani! I think for this look it's important to use high quality polishes that go opaque in 1 coat, so that you don't add bulk to the nail by applying multiple layers.

Are you into nail art? Any pro tips for me? Stay tuned for next week when I attempt the Negative Space nail trend. Happy #ManicureMonday!
