My Current Pre-Party Skin Prep

The holiday season is upon us! I've been lighting every pine-scented candle I have almost finished my Christmas shopping. In the spirit of the season I thought I would share with you the two products that I've been loving to prep the skin for a special occasion. They're quick, effective, and feel like a fancy treat to your skin. Plus, they make your makeup look better and last longer!

First up is Dr. Brandt Oxygen Facial Flash Recovery Mask ($60 @ Sephora) - it works in under 5 minutes and it's good for any skin type. It's a cream texture that you smooth onto damp skin, it then foams up as the oxygen starts doing its thing. Once the foaming action subsides, you rinse off and follow up with moisturizer or serum. There are many similar "flash" oxygen facials on the market but I find this one to be the most moisturizing out of the ones I have tried. It's refreshing but a bit more nourishing, making it perfectly suitable for the colder months and the holiday season. This product was sent to me for editorial consideration. I only ever feature products that I use and genuinely love, and this is no different.

Since we're often pressed for time before holiday parties and gatherings, I like to skip straight onto my Dior Capture Totale DreamSkin after the Dr. Brandt Oxygen Facial. It's a serum and a makeup primer in one. One pump smoothed over the skin and I can follow up with my makeup. This is a pricy product. I purchased it from Sephora at the end of summer and winced at the price but after trying out numerous samples of it, I knew I wanted to commit to the full size. It's lightweight, nourishing, smoothing and it just makes foundation look awesome and last beautifully on the skin all day. It also doesn't feel silicone-y, since I know that some of you hate that feeling. The Dior DreamSkin is hydrating enough for me as I have skin on the oily side, but if you're dry, you will want to moisturize with you favorite day cream before you put this on.
