OPI Soft Shades 2015 #ManicureMonday
With May marking the official start of the wedding season, OPI released 6 new shades in their gorgeous sheer and subtle Soft Shades collection. Some of the brand's classic shades like Funny Bunny, Bubble Bath and Alpine Snow are part of the Soft Shades range so I was REALLY excited to see what this year's new additions had in store. I swatched each of the shades with two coats below:
Petal Soft is a beautiful "confetti" top coat with small white and soft pink specks running through it, along with the occasional white flower. It looks so pretty layered on top of the creamier shades of the collection (or any of the before-mentioned classic Soft Shades).
I took a close-up of the bottle so you can appreciate the awesomeness of this confetti topcoat. It looks like it belongs on a wedding cake.
The more tame colors of the collection were Put It in Neutral! (my second favorite color) and Act Your Beige! which I wish were a touch more pigmented. It reminds me a lot of Essie Sugar Daddy in its sheerness but without the pink undertone. This Silver's Mine! is a warm-toned silver, if that makes any sense. It's not icy and again I think it works well when applied in thin stripes or with a dotting tool to create fun patterns and accents as opposed to on the entire nail. Unless you have perfect ridge-free nail surfaces, this will accentuate any crevices and it applied pretty streaky with the brush, as you can see in the swatch above.
Chiffon My Mind is a pure snowy white with a very fine subtle pearly particles running through it. It reminds me a lot of Deborah Lippmann La Vie En Rose but with a more crisp white undertone. I wish it was a hint more pigmented since it took 3-4 coats to get it to look crisp on the nails and in my opinion it did not look good with a sheer application. I am wearing it on my ring finger here with about 3.5 coats (Act Your Beige! is on the index and pinky fingers, 3 coats):
Last but not least the star of the collection and a must-buy in my opinion: Make Light of the Situation. It's enough with 1 coat if you're using it as a topcoat, or you can do 2 coats for good measure if you want to wear it by itself. It's a gorgeous white iridescent glitter. It looks like snow. I am obsessed with it. I am wearing it on half of the middle finger in the manicure above and here's a close-up of the bottle:
I know it's too early to start thinking about snow but if you watch Game of Thrones... you know that winter is coming. Why not welcome it with some glittery snow on your nails?
What are your thoughts on OPI Soft Shades? Do you like these soft sheer subdued bridal shades or are you all about the brights in the summer?
