Things In Tubes : Lancome Effacernes Concealer

I'm getting really good at hoarding concealers lately. They're just so much fun to buy and try. My ol' faithful concealer for blemishes remains Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage, but for the under-eye area I like to try out new concealers all the time. Today's victim is Lancome Effacernes Undereye Concealer.

I had high hopes for this, I really did. It claims to be long lasting, waterproof and the texture is promising. It's not too liquid, not too creamy. I opted for a slightly darker shade, Medium Bisque, under the premise that I would pair it with a lighter pink toned corrector. Upon initial swatch/application, Medium Bisque has an almost olive-toned yellow base, which matches the undertones in my skin perfectly. The formula glides on easily on the skin, and it's a good texture to suit the majority of skin types - it's not drying at all and it's also not greasy - so both oily and dry skinned gals can use it.

While I love it upon initial application, I honestly can't say that it looks and lasts under the eyes any better than other concealers in my arsenal - NARS Creamy Concealer and Maybelline Fit Me still reign supreme because they wear better on me. The last few times I've actually used Lancome Effacernnes, I ended up using it to mix in some of my more pink-toned foundations to make them match me better as opposed to using it under my eyes.

It also oxidizes and changes in tone once it sets, getting more ashy. Not sure if that is the case with only the Medium Bisque shade I got (the lighter pink toned options might be more forgiving) but it's enough to deter me from repurchasing. In comparison, something like Estee Lauder Double Wear Extreme Wear Waterproof Concealer is almost identical in premise and application albeit a hint thinner in texture and it doesn't oxidize.

he overall verdict is "meh". I've had better.

Have you tried this concealer? What is your under-eye concealer of choice at the moment?
