Loafers are a girl’s best friend

I started my foray into loafers in 2016, after convincing myself I needed the famous Gucci loafer mules that were populating every corner of the fashion Internet. Now, 6 years and multiple pairs later, loafers have become an integral part of my wardrobe.

The Gucci mules are the ones that started it all. I still wear them all the time and as I am diving more into colorful clothing this year, I welcome the pop of red that these add. They’re incredibly versatile in terms of styling - from cropped jeans or shorts in the summer to longer trousers in spring or fall, I can always find room for them in my look. a twist on a classic

If mules aren’t your thing and you are looking for the ultimate classic loafer, Gucci is again the main attraction. I have had the black embroidered model for a few years and while they aren’t sold directly by the brand anymore, you can find the odd pair in limited sizing here or you can buy the plain black version here.

The Minimal loafer style by The Row is one I had lusted for for a long time. I eventually bit the bullet once I saw them online at a consignment shop for a pretty good deal. They are incredibly comfortable and while the light suede is higher maintenance, the loafers lend themselves to countless styling options. They give a really chic and barefoot sophisticated look. The brand sadly does not make them anymore but you can find a really similar pair here.

understated & chic

These pearl-colored penny loafers from Saint Laurent have quickly become a wardrobe staple for me in the short 5 months I’ve owned them. They are just as versatile as a classic white sneaker but just a hint more polished. I like wearing them with everything from dresses to shorts! You can buy them here.

Finishing off on a strong note - this is my current favorite pair of loafers that I own. They are by Prada and they add the perfect amount of edge to all my outfits. They’re bold, classic, practical and modern with the slightly chunkier sole. I have them in the higher shine black patent version seems to be in and out of stock, but you can find the brushed leather version here.
