My December 2011 Challenge and FOTD

Happy December!
I was so excited to open the first door on my Lindt chocolate advent calendar today (I will always remain a child at heart, what can I say), and I am even more excited to tell you about the little challenge I came up with for myself and for anyone else who would like to join me...

A few posts ago I mentioned my strong desire to put an end to lipgloss hoarding and to show more love to the glosses in my collection. I don't have a massive number of glosses but I do certainly have more than I manage to use, and with them being impossible to keep totally sanitary over the months - I know I could buy disposable wands and all that but I'm planning to stop the hoarding, not manage it ;) - so no need.

So what I am proposing is try and pick out the lipgloss that you've had the longest in your collection (it most likely is a special edition you've been trying to limit use on) AND USE IT UP. Don't fall in the trap of rationing limited edition products & keeping them until they get stale. Use it lots and enjoy it while you can.

Here is the gloss I've had the longest - it's by Dior, it's limited edition and I bought it in the summer of 2009. It's one of the Dior Addict Ultra Gloss Reflects and the colour is #137 "Trench coat beige". It's a gorgeous opaque warm nude with subtle shimmer. It doesn't smell stale or anything so it's still safe to use. Dior glosses have no scent to begin with at all. Sidenote - if you have any glosses with scents that have gone off over time, throw them out.

So I'm going to be using this bad boy every day or as much as I can (obviously it can be used in many different combinations) and at the end of the month hopefully I will have used it up! I did the "stick it in a cup of hot water" trick to see exactly how much I have left... so a little under half a tube to go!

Face of the day:
skin - Bourjois Healthy Mix (original), in shade 52. If you live in North America and are wondering where to get it, click here... shipping is free worldwide :)
Also used Chanel Mat Lumiere Powder in #125 to set it.
Under the eyes I used Collection 2000 concealer (thanks Vivianna!), mixed with some Armani Corrector and Laura Mercier Secret Brightener... this is the beeeest under-eye combination ever and I might even do a video on it. I've owned my LM brightener for over a year (I'm sure you've seen it pop in and out of posts) and I have only now figured out the best way to use it haha
cheeks - NARS Mounia blush, Chanel Bronze Universel
eyes - Too Faced Shadow Insurance, Chanel Safari Eyeshadow all over, Chanel Taupe Grise eyeshadow in the crease, some black liquid liner by the brand 17, and MUFE Smoky Lash mascara
lips - the Dior gloss on top of Rimmel East End Snob lip liner

on my nails I am wearing "Twilight" by Laura Mercier, which is part of their Fall 2011 collection.

Hope you're all having a great day and that you are willing to hop on board with this challenge :)
