Neutral is Never Boring

Nothing gets me more excited than finding that perfect “everyday” all-over-the-eye eyeshadow colour. Throw the confetti in the air and pop the bottles of champagne, because the new Burberry Eye Colour Contour Smoke & Sculpt sticks are here and they’re fantastic.

I bought the shade Almond because… duh! I love the powder eyeshadow version of Almond and I love cream shadow sticks – it was a no brainer.

The packaging is akin to that on the Burberry Kisses lipsticks, it looks like it’s metal but it’s actually plastic. It doesn’t have that luxurious weight when you hold it in your hand, but the fact that it’s light makes it more travel friendly. The Almond Eye Colour Contour Stick is a hint less warm than the powder version – it’s a true neutral midtone brown that applies on the eyelid and blends out like a dream.

I apply it to my eyelids straight from the stick and then blend it out into the crease with a fluffy shadow brush. I prefer something like the Zoeva or MAC 217 for blending it out. It’s super easy and the result is a perfect effortless natural eyeshadow look. Although it’s a matte brown colour, when it blends out you get just the slightest hint of sheen which looks absolutely beautiful on the eye. It can really stand on its own for a quick “on-the-go” makeup application or it can be used as a base for more complex or shimmery eyeshadows. The lasting power is fantastic. I did not use any primer and performed no touch-ups in the images below. I have very oily eyelids. Here is what it looked like upon initial application, after 5 and then after 9 hours of wear:
