One Shadow Wonders
I'm loving these in-between shades of eyeshadow lately: mauve, bronze, pink, taupe, plum. The latest addition to my collection was generously gifted to me for my birthday from a fellow beauty-obsessed friend of mine, and it was love at first swatch.
Here is Chantecaille Mermaid Eye Color in Starfish:
I had eyed it in the past upon hearing these shadows get glowing reviews from beauty blogs, but thought the colour was something I already owned in my collection. I was wrong. I swatched it above along with the colours I deemed similar: Chantecaille Starfish is in the first row, far left. Burberry Pink Heather is right next to it on the right. Below we have By Terry Misty Rock.
As you can see, Starfish beautifully marries the warm plum undertones of Burberry Pink Haether and the shimmery deep taupe elements of Misty Rock. It can be blended out and worn alone all over the lid for a soft taupe-plum wash of colour or you can build it up using your fingers or a flat eyeshadow brush to get a more intense shimmery finish. You can use it wet to garner a more metallic finish. This way, it can also function as an eye liner.
In terms of texture, it os a densely packed powder akin to the Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill Intense shadows. I initially thought it was a cream shadow but it is not. This makes it incredibly versatile as it plays nicely with both powder and cream shadows. The lasting power is great - lasts all day 12+ hours if used with a primer or can hold its own on my oily eyelids for 6-8 hours before it starts to crease and slightly fade.
