First Cleanse

First Cleanse

After endless moments drooling over Tatcha products online, I pulled the trigger. I headed on over to and bought the Pure One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil. When it arrived and I took it out of the box (a moment which was captured in this video), it was one of the most satisfying beauty product unboxings I have had. Sounds dramatic, but for realz - it helps soften the blow of the high price tag when the product youโ€™re buying comes exquisitely packaged.

The main container is plastic. It comes with a pump that twists and locks, along with a lid. The shape of it is quite clunky but they do sell a travel size version if you want to take it in your carry-on. The oil itself is very gentle, has an ever-so-slight fresh floral scent, and it removes face makeup without leaving a greasy residue. Skin is left feeling supple and comfortable afterwards. The scent is very very light and undetectable once you rinse the product off, so I would say this is suitable for all skin types including those that are more sensitive.

In terms of performance - this will not remove more heavy eye makeup. I find myself having to reach for a separate eye makeup remover if I'm wearing 2 coats of mascara and lots of eye liner, because this oil alone won't cut it. If you wear minimal makeup, this will genuinely be a "one step" cleanser for you since it does rinse absolutely clean without the need of a wash cloth. That is my favorite thing about it. Out of all the cleansing oils I have tried this leaves my skin the cleanest and most comfortable. I enjoy the process of applying it so much, I even use it on some mornings.

Now, solely as a first cleanse/makeup remover, is it worth shelling out the $$$ for it? Probably not. If you're satisfied with your current micellar water or cheaper cleansing oil as a first step and follow up with a regular face wash - this isn't a MUST TRY. However, if you are a curious beauty obsessed human like myself - no matter your skin type - this is a lovely treat to try. #TreatYoSelf is always welcome in my book.

You can find the Tatcha Pure One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil ($58 CAD / $48 USD) at Sephora and

Not ready to shell out for the full size? No worries. They sell travel-sized minis (also with a pump) for a fraction of the price.
