Gucci Beauty Oxydus Eyeshadow
I cannot resist a good bronzy gold eye shadow. You can get a peek into my collection in this video. What happens when you add sexy packaging into the mix? I am done. Sold. That was the case with this one and so began my first foray into Gucci Beauty.
Gucci Magnetic Shadow Mono in “Oxydus” is exquisitely packaged. From the gold letter embossing on the cardboard box to the GG logo imprint on the shadow itself – I was swooning.
I am happy to report that application was fantastic. It blended out like a dream, had zero fallout and it was easy to soften and to build up for more intensity. It's one of those "one wash" eyeshadows that you can slap on and walk out the door looking fabulous.
The lasting power on my oily eyelids without primer wasn't stellar - it started creasing after 5 hours of wear but after a quick tap and smudge with fingers it was easy to blend out the creasing without losing too much colour intensity. So far no powder eyeshadow I've ever tried - no matter the price tag - can withstand my eyelid oil glands without primer so I am not surprised or majorly disappointed by the creasing of Gucci Oxydus.
I have swatched it to similar powder eyeshadows in my collection, so you can see how it compares:
From what I own, it is most similar to MAC Bronze & Laura Mercier Bamboo eyeshadows, albeit it is superior in application and has more of a yellow gold undertone as opposed to the slightly reddish base of the 2 shadows mentioned. If you are like me and you operate on a Pokemon-style "gotta catch 'em all" level when it comes to bronze eyeshadows, then Gucci Oxydus will be an absolute jewel in your collection. I really love the application formula and the depth of the shade. It manages to be luminous without ever looking unflattering, even when used in the crease.
How's your bronze eyeshadow collection doing? Do you have room for more? Gucci Magnetic Color Shadow Monos like Oxydus retail for $37.00 USD and you can get them at Saks.
