It's been a while since I have reviewed a cleanser around here, partly because I've been on a mission to use up what I have before diving into new products. However, after accomplishing my "use up all the cleansers" mission, I have amassed a few new cleansers that I'll be reviewing over the next few weeks. From drugstore to K-beauty to dermatologist-owned brands, I've got you covered.
Today on the shelf we have Reversa 3-in-1 Mild Gel Cleanser. Reversa is a Canadian brand, and can be found at your local Shoppers Drug Mart in the fancy skincare section. It retails for $23.00 per 200mL bottle. The bottle is sturdy and comes with a pump, which I love. It doesn't foam up or have any fragrance in it, which I also love. It's suitable for all skin types, from oily to dry.
The 3-in-1 portion of its name is due to its claims of being a cleanser, makeup remover and moisturizer - all in one. I find that claim a bit of a stretch. While it effectively cleanses my face and leaves my skin feeling comfortable, it by no means would replace a full makeup removal and moisturizing step, especially during winter. If you wear foundation and concealer on a daily basis, this cleanser won't be able to remove it all. Perhaps if you wear just a bit of powder and concealer, you can get away with skipping a makeup removal step.
Personally, I love a two-step cleansing routine at night. I like an oil cleanser to remove my makeup and then follow up a gentle cleanser to further cleanse my skin. The Reversa Mild Gel Cleanser is excellent as the second step of my evening cleansing routine or for a morning cleanse. It's a silky gel that does not foam up, doesn't dry the skin out yet offers a lovely gentle cleanse.
While it will not replace a makeup remover and moisturizer in your skincare routine, it's a mighty fine gentle cleanser to try out. It's a slightly more efficient cleanser than my ol' faithful CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser (that one was even lousier at removing makeup) and it's very similar to La Roche Posay Toleriane Cleanser albeit it has better packaging and is $5.00 cheaper. I think if you're a fan of those two aforementioned cleansers, the Reversa 3-in-1 Mild Gel Cleanser will be a very welcome addition to your skincare routine.
