There is nothing a good rose-toned lipstick can't do. It goes with any makeup look, it adds definition to the lips without making them stand out too much (unless you want to), it can instantly brighten the face and make you look more polished and, in my case, alive.
I thought this would be the perfect time for me to share my top picks for the effortless everyday rosy-hued lip, in an array of finishes/undertones for whatever may float your boat.
If you want to keep a glossy finish but want something a bit more sheer and easy to maintain, YSL Volupte Sheer Candy in Sweet Fig is a great alternative. This lip product will forever have a special place in my heart because it was the gateway for me to get into red lipsticks (I sure know how to make talking about makeup sound dramatic). At any rate - if you want something sheer, glossy and absolutely delicious - Sweet Fig is your thing. It doesn't have a great lasting power but part of the charm of these YSL Sheer Candy lipsticks is that they're so yummy to reapply. ($34 at Sephora)
Next up is a lipstick that I always have in my bag and it serves as a the perfect "pick-me-up" at any point of the day. Burberry Lip Cover in Blush. Gorgeous packaging and texture, this lipstick glides on smoothly. It's pigmented enough to give good colour payoff in one swipe but at the same time it's not totally opaque. It smells very strongly of flowers (which I'm not a big fan of) but I overlook the granny florals because the colour is just so darn pretty! It has a soft satin finish on the lips. ($33 at Nordstrom)
Finally we have my most recent lipstick collection addition and my current obsession - Clarins Rouge Eclat in Pink Magnolia. It's very similar in hue to the Burberry but with a hint more opacity and a slightly more mauve undertone (sans the granny fragrance). It's a gorgeous everyday shade that is so comfortable to wear, lasts on the lips for ages and I cannot recommend it enough. ($27 at Clarins/Shoppers Drug Mart Beauty Boutique)
