Yes, you read that right. Gay Ponies Dancing In The Snow. If that doesn't win the "Best Named Nailpolish Award" then I don't know what does. I was browsing through an adorable beauty boutique in Ann Arbor (Lily Grace, if you're in town) when I came across the Smith & Cult nail polish line and I was immediately drawn by the gorgeous packaging and killer colour selection. Once I started reading the names of the polishes I was instantly in love.
I started my adventure with Gay Ponies - a stunning rose gold glitter that will turn even the grumpiest frown upside down. It's the best glitter polish I've tried. It is very similar to the Formula X glitters when applied, but a bit more refined. The glitter particles are small but dense.
In the images I used two coats for a gorgeous smooth even glittery finish.
These polishes retail for $18 which is cheaper than Chanel's $27 price point and superior in quality from my experience so far. Chanel nail polishes remain, to me, the biggest nail polish disappointment in terms of lasting power.
The packaging of Smith & Cult is cooler, too. You can find them online at Net-a-Porter and they ship worldwide.
I can't wait to try some other shades! There were a couple other glitters, some multidimensional shimmers and some glorious cream finishes in the collection... I have a feeling it is going to be hard for me to decide on the next one.
I'm so happy to have made this little discovery as I was growing to be a bit bored of nail polish and was in dire need of some new inspiration.
My passion for nail polish has been rekindled... now let's see what other kinds of trouble we can get into in 2015.
