I love Marc Jacobs eyeliners so it was only a matter of time before one of the new lip liners from the range made it into my shopping cart. The (P)Outliner Longwear Lip Pencil comes in three different shades - Prim(rose), Honey(bun) and Nude(ist). I'm not sure why the product-naming people at MJ felt the need to insert puns in brackets in all their product names but alas, I'll let it slide.
I bought the shade Honey(bun) because it's a warm peachy lip liner and I don't have anything like it in my collection. It's described as a "rosy nude" on the Sephora site but it's more of a peachy rose. The texture is smooth and it glides effortlessly on the lips. It's not as drying as MAC lip liner but also not as creamy/pigmented as the old school Dior liners or Lancome's Le Lipstique liners. I found that I need to run this along the lips a couple of times to get a nice opaque even coverage, but the texture is so nice and smooth, it's a pleasure. The packaging is sleek and light, and it's the kind of pencil that you roll up. No sharpening needed and it does not come with a sharpening end either, unlike the Marc Jacobs eyeliners.
Honey(bun) looks so pretty by itself I've just been wearing it with lip gloss on top as opposed to with lipsticks. The formula itself, once applied all over the lip, reminds me more of a lipstick than a lip liner. The lasting power isn't as impressive as Dior but just as good as MAC and Lancome. All in all, lip liners are still at the peak of their popularity and if you're looking for a warm/peachy option to wear with all your nude peachy pink lipsticks in the Spring, this one is a beauty!
