If you follow me on Instagram (and duh – you totally should) you will have seen that a couple of weeks ago Maybelline Canada sent me an awesome limited edition Caboodle filled with goodies. I haven’t tried everything in it yet, but the things that I have tried were absolutely perfect for a Rosie Huntington-Whiteley inspired look.
I’ve been obsessed with this look ever since I saw it in Oscar party pictures a few weeks back so here’s my (slightly less glam) version of it using some Maybelline goodies:
On the eyes I used the lighter warm pink shade of the Color Molten Duo in Nude Rush all over the lid packed on with a flat shader brush. The texture of this eyeshadow is so unique. It looks and applies like a powder when swatched but it has no fallout and has some creaminess to it. It’s almost like using a dry shadow wet…. Except you’re not wetting your brush. It’s super different. Somewhat in between a cream shadow and a powder shadow. I added a small amount of Urban Decay Venus eyeshadow in the inner corner for an extra boost of highlight.
Rosie has false lashes on in the images but this was more of a casual adaptation of the look so I skipped the lashes and just went au naturel (+1 coat of mascara!). On the cheeks I used lots and lots of Too Faced Sun Bunny bronzer on a MAC 187 brush which helped me build up the product in sheer layers. For an extra dose of highlight I used the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette.
Finally, for lips, this was totally out of my comfort zone - I never wear a glossy red lip. I'm pretty sure that her makeup artist (the lovely Monika Blunder) used a red Tom Ford lip gloss on Rosie but I had to improvise - I primed and hydrated the lips with the amazing Maybelline Baby Lips Dr. Rescue lip balm in Soothing Sorbet followed by the Color Sensational Creamy Matte lipstick "Siren in Scarlet". It's an absolutely gorgeous matte red and goes on like velvet, lasts a long time on the lips and doesn't feel drying. I would have stopped right there if it were a "Sandra" look but to get that glossy shine I topped it off with some clear gloss. I used the plumping gloss by Lip Fusion and prayed for a miracle but alas - my lips will never be as big and gorgeous as Rosie's :)
I was so inspired by this pretty look I've been doing my makeup in a similar way for the last couple of weeks! I won't be surprise if you see some of these products pop up again in a Favourites video. It's fun playing with makeup.
