I’m sad to admit that I’ve lost interest in Chanel makeup collections as of late. They come and go and I don’t buy anything from it... until this one time. Fall 2015 hit the shelves and I got mesmerized by the Chanel Illusion D’Ombre eyeshadow in New Moon. This is a repromote from last year’s summer collection and as far as I know, it is now going to be incorporated in their permanent line. Yay! It’s available online at Nordstrom – most counters are sold out but there are plenty available online – and I recommend you give it a go.
If you’re a bronzy shimmery eyeshadow whore like I am, you need this in your life. I am not a big Illusion D’Ombre – when they first came out I bought Illusoire, I never wore it, and then it dried out and I had to throw it away. Chanel makeup enthusiasts have been boasting that the formula is now improved and that New Moon isn’t as crappy as the original releases. I believe it!
The application and wear time of New Moon is impressive. It lasts a good 6 hours on my oily lids with minimal creasing (and no primer) and with primer you’re good to go for longer than that. The colour is rich, has a hint of rosiness and is laced with the prettiest glitter. It doesn’t enhance uneven eyelid texture and easily glides on when applied with fingers. I like applying this formula with fingers to get the most dramatic color deposit. The glitter illuminates your eye in the most flattering way.
You need this in your life for the upcoming fall/winter season. The end.
Chanel Illusion D’Ombre retails for $36 ($41 CAD) and is available at Chanel counters, and Nordstrom online.
