My love for dry shampoo runs deep. Partly because I hate washing my hair, partly because I love extra volume, and partly because I like that messy tousled hair look. It’s the only look my unfortunate hair type can do.
Over the years I have tried dozens of dry shampoos, and my preference for powder dry shampoos is solidified. Spray cans just don’t do the job as well – they run out quickly and they can make hair feel even more dirty at times. Powder dry shampoos do the best job at actually sucking up the oils and making your roots look acceptable for an extra day (or two).
Here are the dry shampoo powders in my arsenal right now:
The Captain Blankenship Mermaid Dry Shampoo is a new favourite – I received this as a sample from the company and I’m pleasantly surprised by it. It’s very effective and the results are awesome. It has a fairly strong clean citrus scent, the packaging is adorable and the brand is all natural. This particular product is vegan.
The Ojon Full Detox powder (discontinued) is my all time favorite. I’ve been savoring every last bit of this since it is now discontinued and I won’t be able to get more… but this is such good stuff. You don’t need a lot of it, it blends in without looking white or gray, and it is unscented.
The Bumble and Bumble Pret-a-Powder is the most fine powder of the bunch. The scent is very faint and subtle but definitely more luxurious. Because the powder is so fine, I find that I have to use a lot more in order to suck up all the oils at the roots but it does the job and it does it well. It adds a lot of volume and you can use it two days in a row without feeling ashamed. The packaging/delivery system leaves a lot to be desired – I wish it had a little spout or maybe more holes since you do need to use more product in order for it to work well, but alas, it’s a great hair powder and I do not regret the purchase.
What dry shampoos are you into? Are you a hair powder freak like I am? I'm always looking for more to try!
