I spent the last evening in my hometown of Sibiu, Romania strolling through the old cobblestone streets one last time and taking in the last few warm rays of sunshine left from the day. It was cool enough to be able to wear my black Alexis romper - beautifully constructed of thick black lace and a nude lining to create the illusion of skin peeking through.
It's one of my most memorable purchases of the last 12 months and although quite a basic wardrobe piece, it's got a bit of drama. Alexis has quickly become one of my favorite contemporary designer brands because every single item I have tried is super well made, washes well and has an edge to it. It's feminine but not too romantic. It strikes a great balance, and I'm enamoured with their dresses and jumpsuits in particular.
Since I was out well into the evening and headed to a concert, I paired it with a black faux leather jacket to counteract the feminine lace details and pointed toe black leather flats so I can stay grounded on the uneven cobblestone alleys. On my lips I am wearing NARS Lodhi which gave a hint of brightness to the all-black ensemble. If you don't have a "dressy" romper in your late summer/autumn wardrobe, now is the time to get one. They're incredibly versatile (I've worn this to a wedding with the right pair of heels and a statement clutch) and comfortable to boot!
