My lip product addiction is well documented on this platform and I thought I'd keep the obsession alive and share what I've been wearing on my lips over the past week. One new fall lipstick a day keeps the doctor away... orrrr something like that.
What does my "Everyday Fall Lip" look like, you may ask? In my world, it's darker and has a deep mauve or dark rosy brown kick to it. Or both. I gravitate towards matte finishes and opaque formulas this time of year. The finish I gravitate towards is more on the matte side, and they are all long-wearing, pigmented and versatile work-appropriate shades.
MONDAY: I am a big fan of the Charlotte Tilbury Mate Revolution lipstick formula. It has a gorgeous vanilla scent, a beautiful rose gold vintage-looking packaging and a weightless and comfortable matte formula. Matte lipsticks are notorious for being drying on the lips but the Matte Revolution formula manages to stay away from that. It's not drying, it's incredibly lightweight and it's not TOO pigmented upon initial application. You have to swipe it across the lips a few times to get an opaque coverage. The shade Bond Girl is my top pick for the fall because it's got the perfect blend of brown, rose and mauve which makes it an ideal pairing for multiple fall makeup looks.
TUESDAY, THURSDAY: Next up we have two Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche lipsticks in the mix - Chai and Pepper. Let's be real - you don't need both but they are different. Pepper is more cool toned and mauve (makes your teeth look whiter) while Chai is warmer and looks GORGEOUS on more tanned skin tones. I like to wear Chai with a more dramatic reddish brown eye makeup look. The Amuse Bouche formula is super pigmented and comfortable on the lips. It has a classic lipstick finish - not too shiny, not too matte - and smells like grapefruit. Bite Beauty is an all natural makeup line and they focus on lip products.
WEDNESDAY: NARS Audacious Lipstick in the shade Anna is one of my favorite lip colors on the planet. I'm not crazy about the formula - it's similar to the Bite Beauty in terms of pigmentation but a little drier and in turn it makes my lips feel dry at the end of the day - but the shade Anna makes up for it. I just load up on lip balm and suck it up because this is the most gorgeous mauve-toned lipstick I own. It makes me feel so fab whenever I put it on and you can see it in action in this tutorial.
Oh hello there - we have reached FRIDAY and it's time to get wild. This is the only gloss in the mix. It's incredibly pigmented and non sticky and works like a dream with all the lipsticks in this post as well as just with a natural mauve or brown lip liner. This is bareMinerals Gen Nude Buttercream Gloss in Heartbreaker. It smells nice, it's a gorgeous mauvey rose (see a theme here) and it has very subtle gold shimmer running through it. The shimmer isn't palpable when it's on your lips but when certain light hits it, it comes out to play and makes your lips look more luscious and voluminous. Who doesn't want that?
Are you a mauve rose nut like I am or are you reaching for different shades this fall?
