Velvet + Embroidery + Sequins + Ankle Boots = Love
I just got these boots and within a week of owning them, I don't think I have ever received this many compliments on a pair of shoes. They're from Topshop and they're fabulous.
The heel is chunky, the detail is luxe, and they're comfortable and surprisingly versatile. They manage to offer the perfect amount of pizzazz to my mostly neutral wardrobe. From skinny jeans to black leggings to midi dresses, these boots fit into any outfit I throw at them.
It's an easy way to embrace the current velvet and embroidery trend.
The only confusing bit has been the sizing. Topshop shoe sizing translates to US half sizes only. You have to size down half a size to accommodate your US shoe size.
For example: if you're a size US 7, opt for the boot in size 6.5. If you're a US 7.5 or an 8, opt for the Topshop 7.5.
Despite the size confusion, I have worn them to work, I have worn them out shopping and standing in line, and on either of those occasions my feet were unscathed. Hurray!
The heel is chunky and adds character, and makes them incredibly comfortable while still adding a decent amount of height. The almond toe is slightly squared off, giving me 70's vibes (in a good way).
Can you tell how much I love them? They're totally unique to my wardrobe and the shiny sequin details also render them perfect for the upcoming holiday party season. I can't wait to start styling them for upcoming lookbooks and posts!
You can get these lovely Topshop booties right from Nordstrom (they are sold out on the Topshop site, as far as I know). They're also available for a discount at The Bay, so definitely check that out if you're in Canada.
If velvet + sequins don't float your boat, I have rounded up some more of my favorite statement booties from the internet:
