Feel the Chill

I spent the past couple of weekends making the most delicious veggie chili I have ever made (I added quinoa and fresh cilantro in batch #2) and stowing away the summer items in my wardrobe. I replaced sleeveless dresses and sheer blouses with thermals and oversized knitwear in various neutral shades. It was bittersweet. There's something about that perfect boxy turtleneck that makes me so feel cozy and nice... but the feeling lasts about 10 minutes until a cold gust of wind hits me and I run back indoors. After searching for a solid 2 months and numerous orders/returns, I found the perfect oversized jacket in a deep burgundy shade that goes with everything in my fall/winter wardrobe. It is quite an investment piece being from Alexander Wang but the good news his stuff goes on sale often and it is an item I can see myself wearing for years to come.

The sweater is an oldie by the brand Rachel Roy from my trusty Canadian discount store Winners. I have mentioned my love for this store before, and I still stand by it. I recommend shopping for knitwear at places like Winners and Marshall's as you can find some cool stuff (i.e. discounted cashmere) that is more affordable and that doesn't look like everyone else's latest Zara haul. You just need some patience and to keep trying as they get new stock a couple of times a week. Threw on some black leather ankle boots, slim jeans and I was out the door!
