Summer In-Shower Essentials

The 5 products that are the stars of my current shower lineup

Bioderma Atoderm Body Cleansing Oil

You know something is a must-have when you resort to purchasing the largest size available and you must have it in your bathroom at all times. The Bioderma Atoderm Body Cleansing Oil $19.99 is a gorgeous product that gently cleanses even the most sensitive of skins. It’s an oil so it doesn’t have a traditional foamy lather, but it does rinse clean and leave the skin feeling nourished. I sometimes use it as body wash (mostly during winter) but I now use it regularly to shave my legs.

Necessaire Body Wash (Eucalyptus)

This is my current daily body wash and I am smitten with it. The Necessaire Body Wash $25.00 looks incredibly chic on my shelf and the eucalyptus scent is earthy, woodsy and refreshing. I’ve tried their Bergamot and Sandalwood offerings as well, but keep coming back to this one. They also sell a fragrance free option which is great. I like that the scent is quite soft and while I can smell it during cleansing, it never overwhelms my senses and it doesn’t linger on the skin. It simply provides a delightful in-shower experience. It lathers slightly but just enough to thoroughly cleanse my body without leaving it feeling parched. I also love to use this as an indulgent bubble bath, and I buy the larger refill bottles to make sure I’m always stocked up.

Soft Services Buffing Bar

A body scrub has been an integral part of my body care routine for years - I think it was ingrained in me from a young age by my mom. While she never had a particularly dedicated skincare or makeup routine, she was always into bodycare and she swears by a good scrub.

I’ve tried and enjoyed many body scrubs over time, but switched over to the Soft Services Buffing Bar $28.00 because of its minimal packaging and superb efficacy. You get two bars in a pack, and it’s a potent physical exfoliator for the body. It is unscented and it helps slough away dead skin and keratin buildup, preventing keratosis pilaris and ingrown hairs. This brand really nails it when it comes to branding and effective solutions to common body skincare problems.

Olaplex No.4P Blonde Enhancer Shampoo

Highlighted hair’s best friend! This is the only hair product I’m mentioning since it’s the one I’m most loyal to. I find that the toner on my highlights fades faster in the summer, so keeping the tone touched up is a priority for me. The Olaplex No.4P Blonde Enhancer Toning Purple Shampoo $28.00 is the quickest, most effective way of knocking back brassy tones in my hair. I use this every 4-5 hair washes and I love that it gives me a gorgeous neutral tone to my highlights in a short amount of time. I lather it up in my hair and wait 2 minutes before rinsing it out and following up with conditioner or a hair mask. It also doesn’t make my hair too purple if I leave it on too long, and it’s less drying than similar shampoos on the market.

Soft Services Clearing Clay

This in-shower treatment is perfect for those of us who are acne prone on the body. I tend to break out on my back and shoulders in the summer, and incorporating this product in my routine helps keep the breakouts in check. Soft Services Clearing Clay $28.00 is a sulfur-based acne treatment that has the consistency of a clay mask. It can be used either as a daily wash, a spot treatment or a mask. The way I use it is applying a generous amount to my shoulders and any areas of concern on my back, before I step into the shower. I let the treatment dry for about 3 minutes before showering and rinsing it off. Sometimes if I have a stubborn spot on my body, I dab a little bit of this on before bed and let it work overnight.
