Looks I Loved This Week

Chic & Comfortable Is the Name of the Game

I still can’t quite wrap my mind around the fact that it’s May! We’re still in lockdown for at least another two weeks, so in terms of fashion inspiration and what I’m actually wearing, it’s still very much skewed in the comfortable home-friendly direction. Sweatpants, leggings and loose jeans are on heavy rotation around here.

Here is what caught my eye from my Instagram feed, images courtesy of some of my favorite accounts to follow for fashion inspiration: Kristen Marie Nichols, Grece Ghanem, and Christie Tyler.

I love Kristen’s pairing of high waisted sweatpants and a bodysuit, so I’ve been wearing the combination often. In an image below you can see me wearing a black bodysuit from Sezane (older style) with lilac Entireworld Sweatpants $88.00. Her chic combination of black high waisted leggings and a white shirt was super inspiring as well and I’m dying to recreate the look with black cropped skinny jeans and red mules next time I’m going somewhere other than the grocery store!

What drew me to Christie Tyler’s post other than the cute couple’s pose were THE SNEAKERS. They are Nike Blazer Mid ‘77 Sneakers $100.00 and I love the high top, clean lines and retro aesthetic of them. I’m on the fence on whether they would look good with pieces of my wardrobe other than sweatpants, but if I can figure out more than 5 ways to wear them with what’s currently in my closet, you better believe I will order them. I try to make that one of my main rules before purchasing a piece of clothing; I ask myself “will this work with what’s already in my wardrobe in at least 5 different outfits?” and if the answer is yes, we move on to the next round of deliberation.

Last but not least, Grece Ghanem’s sunny denim look put a smile on my face. I hadn’t worn my ripped boyfriend jeans in a while, so seeing that photo of Grece looking so casual and cool in her denim inspired me to wear mine more often, even if it’s just around the house with a white tee. I love how she paired it with a pair of crisp white loafers and bright orange accessories. The combination of blue denim and orange is so perfect for spring and summer. If you’re not following Grece @greceghanem on Instagram yet, what are you waiting for? She’s a fabulous woman with a playful sense of style and a shoe collection to die for. I love that she’s embraced her gorgeous grey hair (inspires me to do the same, when the time comes) and I love it even more that she’s Canadian!

In the image below I paired my Babaton Contour Bodysuit from Aritzia $48.00 with high waisted slim pants from Veronica Beard $277.00 and the oversized cropped Wilfred Free Callisto Cardigan from Aritzia $148.00

P.S.

I hope that you had a good week! We made this Broccoli Bolognese with Orecchiete pasta dish from Bon Appetit this week and it was SO good. I switched up the Italian sausage for the plant-based Beyond Meat sausage version, and it still came out absolutely delicious. Worth a try if you’re stumped on what cook for dinner tonight.

Other leisurely activities I’ve been loving have been playing Animal Crossing on Nintendo Switch (like the rest of Twitter, it seems) and reading Madeline Miller’s The Song of Achilles which I’m almost finished with. I would highly recommend reading it, along with her novel Circe, if you’re as fascinated with Greek mythology as I am. I love her poetic style of writing… every sentence is laced with such emotion, I immediately feel transported to another realm when reading her books.
